Bullock Pen Water District was established in 1961 serving 432 customers and has continued to grow since. Today Bullock Pen Water District proudly serves approximately 23,000 customers and has over 380 miles of water line.

Kentucky’s Area-Wide Optimization Program
Bullock Pen has received special recognition from the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet’s Division of Water for meeting the goals of the Kentucky’s Area-Wide Optimization Program (AWOP) from 2017- 2021.
The purpose of the AWOP is to encourage drinking water systems to voluntarily achieve optimization goals that are more stringent than current regulations. AWOP promotes improving the operation of existing facilities rather than implementing costly capital improvements. In doing so, the program provides tools and approaches for drinking water systems to meet water quality optimization goals and provide an increased and sustainable level of public health protection to customers.
In particular, the program emphasizes the reduction of turbidity and disinfection by-products through the drinking water treatment process. Turbidity, or cloudiness, is a measurement of particles in water including soil, algae, bacteria, viruses and other substances. Disinfection by-products are formed when Chlorine, which is used for disinfection, reacts with organic material found in the source water.>
2025 Board Meeting Schedule
Unless otherwise stated, the Commissioners of the Bullock Pen Water District will meet in regular session pursuant to law and rules of said commission on the third Thursday of the month at 1:00pm, January- December.
The next board meeting will take place on November 20th at 1 pm.
